coffee dogs w/my son
…so what’s this with coffee and dogs?! guess they like java too.
I really looked forward to, enjoyed, and now look back on the morning meets w/my son at a variety of coffee houses, mostly in Berkeley. It was Winter and Spring, leading up to the wedding in June, fast approaching. The misty walks from the car to coffee were filled with meaningful conversation. Meaningful because of the man I was with: my son.
The last coffee house served coffee in (what I called) ‘bowls’ instead of mugs! Pretty cool, especially since they were HUGE. My son warned me in advance, so I ordered my ‘coffee in a bowl’………..my son quickly explained to the bewildered cashier that I meant a ‘cup’ of coffee…..but that wasn’t all – “what kind of coffee” he asks, so I agree to “whatever he’s having”, pointing to my son, which is when I tasted my first latte. I listened to him explain what makes a latte ‘a latte’, as we sipped from our bowls mugs. Kinda reminded me of when he taught me my first five guitar chords. I like learning from my son – and my daughter too! What am I worried about?! I WANT them to pass me up – that’s the idea, right?!! In many ways, I feel they both already have! What do I really know anyway…….maybe dogs drink their coffee out of mugs…
coffee dog w/my daughter
So I’m hangin out in a local Peets w/my daughter, as she busily works away on her laptop, sittin sippin coffee. Out the window next to us is this dog all by its self, sittin on a bench, starin at my coffee….or just starin at me starin at it. Anyway, snapped this shot, flashed my ‘gang sign’ to my girl, and left for work in sunny CA~

grandmother’s b-day song
There’s not much that would interrupt my Grandad from enjoying a great meal – but this was one of those occasions!
At an annual silent auction dinner in Stockton, courtesy of my parents who sponsored some tables + celebrating my Grandmother’s birthday – my Grandmother had the honor of approx 300 people putting down their forks to sing her ‘happy birthday’. What a memory for her….and for us!
The food was good, entertainment fun, and one of the few events where I could relax with my fam and enjoy not working the gig~

Burrito Tuesday
Okay, so it was ‘taco tuesday’, $1 each at Maria Maria’s in Walnut Creek – but nobody told me that…..besides, the client promised me a meal for a favor = so a MEAL I came for! They told me their wet burritos were fabulous, so on ‘hungry tuesday’ I wandered in to order that “burrito you described the other day…” I took a comfortable chair and watched everyone eating their tacos while listening to some of the best live music I’ve heard in awhile, Keith Sanchez (new CD coming out soon I think). A few minutes later, this AMAZING burrito made its way through the taco feeding frenzy to land between my fork and knife. What a masterpiece!!! I was SO amazed at both the SIZE and beauty of this ART – I had to take its picture.
Yeah, I ate the whole burrito……….maybe I’ll just do the tacos next time, but when I’m REALLY hungry, I know just what to order…….I think it had carnitas or steak or something, not sure…..
